VetREST & Helping Hands Reentry Outreach Centers (two area 501(c)(3) non-profits) have partnered to create a Victory Garden at the Bybee Lakes Hope Center (BLHC) that provides hope & healing for homeless veterans, families and participants. Opened in October 2020, BLHC transforms the never-occupied, 155,000 square foot Wapato Corrections Facility into a trauma-informed, data-driven transitional housing facility. Our nearly 3 acre garden launched in the spring of 2021 with the planting of over 170 trees and three garden beds with tangible and physical harvest for the anticipated 4,900 annual participants (typically 10% are veterans) that will be transiting through the center each year.
Arrivals begin at 10:15am; 10:30am - Welcome Remarks & Work group breakouts. All check-in on arrival at parking lot. Connect and volunteer in the garden! Join let's build hope / opportunity together. Ok to join anytime during the event.
